Business Idea: Cultural Village Introduction The Tourist Guide Learnership is a group of learners that is being prepared for the Tourism Industry by the Sondela Academy. These learners are nearing the completion of their learnership and their next challenge is to find work opportunities after their training. Business Opportunity Four of the learners have spotted an opportunity in Bela Bela which they would like to pursue. As we know, many towns and rural areas in South Africa have established cultural villages which are visited by both local and overseas tourists wishing to experience the previous and present lifestyles of the people of the area. In the case of the Bela Bela region, there is no such attraction at present and the town's convenient location close to major cities with easy access to the N1 highway, makes this an ideal destination for an endeavour of this nature. A cultural village would certainly enhance the tourism experience of visitors to the town. What has been done so far? The three entrepreneurs have already started by registering their own Close Corporation and after attending some workshops on starting your own business, have developed a business plan.They are now in the process of marketing their plan in order to obtain the finances to turn their idea into reality and have already contacted potential stakeholders that could assist them in making their dream come true. Sondela Academy is supporting them wholeheartedly in their quest to improve the skills and knowledge they will need for the task at hand and during a recent excursion to Polokwane, they visited various sites and obtained some ideas that they can implement in their business plan. 
Business Idea: Electrical Repairs Introduction The Electrical Engineering Learnership is a group of learners that is being prepared for the Electrical Industry by the Sondela Academy. currently in their 2nd year of training and will complete their 3rd year during 2010. At this time, they will be able to take the trade test at Olifantsfontein in order to gain their wireman's licence. Business Opportunity Four of the learners have identified a business opportunity in Bela Bela which they would like to pursue. Their idea is to source broken electrical equipment which they will then repair and sell. The business opportunity is therefore to establish an electrical repair shop from which they can sell the repaired equipment. What has been done so far? The four entrepreneurs have already started by developing their business profile and registering their own Close Corporation. They are now in the process of marketing their plan in order to obtain the finances to turn their idea into reality and have already contacted potential stakeholders that could assist them in making their dream come true. Sondela Academy is supporting them wholeheartedly in their quest to improve the skills and knowledge they will need for the task at hand and they are currently in the process of developing their business plan. Their dream has come a step closer to being realised with the donation of obsolete electrical equipment which they received from Sondela Nature Reserve, which they will now repair and then sell in Bela Bela.
